The Odisha Parab was inaugurated today in Varanasi by Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, in the presence of the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha and other senior officials. The three-day celebration will continue from 22nd to 24th August 2026, bringing together the rich cultural traditions and exquisite handicraft heritage of Odisha on a vibrant platform.
The event is expected to attract a large number of visitors, particularly as the monsoon season gradually gives way to pleasant weather, creating a favourable environment for visitors and craft lovers. Participating artisans and master craftspersons have brought a diverse range of exclusive handcrafted products for display and sale, providing them with an important opportunity to connect directly with customers and expand their markets.
The Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, has extended assistance and need-based handholding support to participating artisans to facilitate their participation and enhance their market exposure.
Odisha Parab is not merely an exhibition or marketplace; it is a celebration of the stories, emotions, traditions and cultural identity embedded in every handcrafted product. Behind every piece lies the skill and dedication of an artisan, the heritage of a community, generations of traditional knowledge, and the history of the motifs and designs associated with a particular region.
Craft lovers and visitors are therefore encouraged to come forward, appreciate and support the artisans by purchasing their handcrafted creations. Every purchase can contribute towards strengthening their enterprises, improving livelihoods and inspiring the younger generation to consider handicrafts as a dignified and sustainable profession.
Supporting artisans today can help preserve India’s cultural heritage while creating new avenues of livelihood and entrepreneurship for tomorrow’s generation.
