Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Abhishek Sharma hit his debut IPL century in the 13th over, achieveing a thrilling milestone alongside Travis Head with a remarkable 171-run partnership for the initial wicket. This dynamic duo provided SRH with a solid start while chasing Punjab Kings’ imposing target of 245/6 on a favorable Hyderabad pitch last Saturday.

Abhishek scored his ton in 40 balls, making it the 2nd fastest by an SRH player in IPL history. Head set the record at 39 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2024. According to ESPNcricinfo, Abhishek is the 7th SRH player to reach a ton in IPL, and the first against Punjab.

Abhishek and Head’s 171-run partnership is now the 2nd highest for SRH, with the top spot held by Jonny Bairstow and David Warner’s 185-run stand against RCB in IPL 2019.

Abhishek’s remarkable innings saw him score 141 runs off 55 balls, including 14 fours and 10 sixes, with a strike rate of 256.36. This performance set a new record for the highest individual score by an SRH player in the IPL. Surpassing Sanju Samson’s 119, it also stands as the highest against PBKS in the league.

Abhishek has achieved remarkable milestones in IPL, reaching 1,500 runs with a ton and 7 fifties at an average of 26.15. He has hit 152 fours, 83 sixes, and boasts a strike rate of 159.77. In T20s, he has amassed 3,787 runs, scoring 7 hundreds and 20 fifties in total.

SRH (247/2) shocked PBKS, chasing down 245 with ease. Abhishek’s brilliant 141 led them to a remarkable victory, making it IPL’s second-highest successful chase after Shreyas Iyer’s 82 helped PBKS set 245/6.
