Bharti Airtel’s second-quarter financial results for FY 2024–25 reflect the company’s continued growth amid increasing competition and substantial investments in telecommunications infrastructure. The company reported a consolidated net profit of ₹8,888 crore, registering a 31% year-on-year increase compared to ₹6,762 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. However, its performance fell slightly short of market expectations, highlighting the challenges associated with network expansion, operational expenditure and the transition to 5G technology.
The company’s consolidated revenue stood at ₹41,473 crore, representing a 7.7% annual growth. A major contributor to this performance was the Indian business, which recorded revenue of ₹31,561 crore, reflecting an 11% increase. Airtel’s Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) improved significantly to ₹233 from ₹203 a year earlier, supported by recent tariff revisions, premium customer acquisition and increased adoption of higher-value services. Monthly data consumption per customer reached 23.9 GB, demonstrating the growing demand for digital connectivity.
Airtel’s broadband and enterprise businesses also strengthened its diversified revenue portfolio. The Homes segment registered 17.3% revenue growth, while the Enterprise segment benefited from increasing demand for cloud computing, cybersecurity and Internet of Things solutions. Continued investment in 5G infrastructure and network quality remains central to the company’s long-term strategy.
Nevertheless, Airtel faces challenges from intense competition with Reliance Jio, regulatory obligations relating to Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues and currency fluctuations affecting its African operations. Rising network maintenance costs and substantial capital expenditure also require careful financial management.
Overall, Bharti Airtel’s Q2 FY25 performance demonstrates resilience, improved revenue realization and growing digital business opportunities. The company’s future growth will depend on effective 5G monetization, operational efficiency, customer retention and sustained expansion of its broadband and enterprise services.
