Indian government warns users to update Chrome due to security risk.

The Indian CERT-In issued a high-security alert for Google Chrome users on Windows laptops, highlighting vulnerabilities in desktop versions before 134.0.6998.177/.178. They cautioned that these flaws may enable cybercriminals to bypass security and access user data and devices.

CERT-In advised all Google Chrome desktop users to promptly update their browsers. The vulnerabilities discovered could result in severe risks, including potential high-level espionage. CERT-In highlighted a specific vulnerability in Google Chrome related to an incorrect handle in Mojo on Windows.

Google confirmed and fixed a vulnerability in its Chrome browser for Windows, used by cybercriminals to breach victims’ computers. The flaw (CVE-2025-2783) was found by Kaspersky’s researchers. The bug was part of “Operation ForumTroll,” a hacking campaign sending phishing emails about a Russian political summit to Windows users running Chrome.

To update Google Chrome on your desktop, open the browser, click the three-dot menu at the top-right, then select “Help” > “About Google Chrome.” The browser will automatically check for updates. If available, it will download and install. After installation, relaunch Chrome to finish the process.
