WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION – 5 JUNE 2026
Theme: Climate Change and Mission LiFE

World Environment Day was observed on 5th June 2026 under the theme “Climate Change and Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment)” with a series of activities aimed at promoting environmental conservation, sustainable living, and eco-friendly crafts.

The programme featured a Plantation Drive, Environmental Conservation Pledge, Pro-Planet Awareness Campaign for stakeholders, a Mini Exhibition of Eco-Friendly and Zero-Carbon Emission Crafts, and Awareness Sessions highlighting the importance of sustainable crafts for a greener future.

The exhibition showcased a range of environmentally sustainable traditional crafts, including:

  • Hand Embroidery (Textiles)
  • Natural Dye Hand Block Printing (Dabu Print of Pipar)
  • Appliqué Work
  • Paper Mâché
  • Split Ply Braiding

These crafts exemplify sustainable production practices, preservation of traditional knowledge, and environmentally responsible livelihoods.

As part of the celebration, six artisans and stakeholders were felicitated for their valuable contribution towards the conservation, preservation, and promotion of eco-friendly crafts and sustainable practices.

The programme was graced by Shri Sivagnanan K. J., Director, IIHT Jodhpur; Shri Raviveer Choudhary, Assistant Director, HSC Jodhpur; National Awardee Shri Mohd. Shareef; Shri Mohd. Yasin Chhipa (MCP – Dabu Print); Shri Ramrakh Jat (MCP – Split Ply Braiding); Smt. Premwati Ji (MCP – Hand Embroidery); and Shri M. L. Choudhary, Director, Suryanagri Khadai Craft Producer Company, Jodhpur, along with the staff of HSC Jodhpur, artisans, stakeholders, and faculty members of IIHT Jodhpur.

The event served as a platform to strengthen awareness about environmental responsibility and the role of traditional sustainable crafts in addressing climate change challenges. Through collective participation and commitment, the programme reinforced the importance of adopting eco-friendly lifestyles and preserving heritage crafts that contribute to a sustainable future.

Together, we reaffirm our commitment towards a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future.
