The Indian government introduced a new Aadhaar verification app for improved user privacy and easy Aadhaar sharing. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized user control and convenience in the launch video on X. The app, in beta testing, includes Face ID authentication.
Vaishnaw stated that the app simplifies Aadhaar verification like UPI payments, offering users a smooth digital authentication experience. It lets users securely share required data through QR codes or a requesting app. This innovative method prioritizes privacy and reduces reliance on scanned or printed documents, according to the government.
Vaishnaw stated that the new app safeguards Aadhaar data from misuse and leaks, offering protection against forgery and editing. Data sharing is strictly permitted upon user consent.
