Diphu, January 29, 2025 – The Karbi Jutang Asong Tirpi Amei (Karbi Cultural Society) is hosting its 10th General Conference from January 29 to 31, 2025, marking a decade of efforts to safeguard Karbi traditions. The event will bring together community leaders, scholars, and youth to discuss cultural preservation, the role of younger generations, and strategies to sustain Karbi heritage.
Although the Karbi Club was established in Diphu around 1974, it was the Karbi youth who pioneered the Karbi Youth Festival, which has flourished for over 51 years. Last year’s Golden Jubilee celebration highlighted the festival’s resilience as one of Northeast India’s largest ethnic cultural events.
The conference will focus on cultural sustainability, exploring ways to document, promote, and protect Karbi traditions. As modernization poses challenges, the event serves as a vital step in ensuring the Karbi identity remains strong for future generations.
