During the 76th Republic Day celebration in Karbi Anglong, Smt. Sabina Teronpi was honoured with a citation for her outstanding efforts in preserving and promoting tribal looms, textiles, and crafts. Through her dedication, she has empowered numerous artisans and self-help Groups (SHGs), helping them achieve economic self-reliance.
Mrs. Teronpi actively participated in exhibitions and trade fairs across Northeast India and beyond, including National Handloom Expos and other prestigious events. Her initiatives, such as training women in traditional crafts and providing affordable ethnic wear, have benefitted many families. Over 1,500 SHGs and 20 registered groups under the Matipung Boa-Kata Samabay Samity Ltd. have flourished under her guidance.
In addition to her contributions to handloom and textiles, Mrs. Teronpi ventured into filmmaking, producing a Karbi documentary, “SERDIHUN,” and a short film, “PHAM PARKUP.” Her work continues to celebrate and promote the rich heritage of the Karbi community.
