Launch of Guru Shishya Hastshilp Prashikshan Program on Artistic Textile Craft in Moran, Assam

Moran, Assam, 9th January 2025 – The Guru Shishya Hastshilp Prashikshan Program on Artistic Textile Craft, aimed at empowering 30 artisans, commenced today with great enthusiasm. This two-month program is sponsored by the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and organized by Assam Small Industries Development Corporation Limited (ASIDC), Bamunimaidam, Guwahati, Assam.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri Pramod Chandra Deori, Retired Principal of Tengapani Tribal ME School, Rojabari, Sivasagar, who lit the ceremonial lamp as the Chief Guest. The event also saw the presence of dignitaries including Shri Debashis Das from ASIDC.

The training will be led by Smt. Jeuti Deori, a Master Craftsperson from Moran, Assam, renowned for her extensive experience of over 20 years in artistic textile crafts. Her expertise will guide the artisans in honing their skills, preserving traditional craftsmanship, and enhancing their market readiness.

The program has brought together 30 artisans from various locations, offering them a platform to learn, collaborate, and contribute to the growth of the artistic textile craft industry.

This initiative underscores the Government of India’s commitment to nurturing traditional crafts and supporting artisans in their pursuit of excellence. Over the next two months, the program will focus on advanced techniques, innovation, and sustainable practices to promote the rich textile heritage of Assam.
