A young assistant engineer from Assam’s PWD was discovered dead in her Bongaigaon apartment. In her suicide note, she alleged harassment by two senior officials, claiming they pressured her to approve fraudulent bills, leading to overwhelming stress and isolation. Police have arrested the officials named in the note: Dinesh Medhi Sharma and Aminul Islam.
Police registered a case under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following a complaint from her family. Investigators are forensically examining the suicide note while probing potential workplace misconduct. After the postmortem, her body was returned to her family on Tuesday evening.
