Tej Pratap Yadav, a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) legislative assembly, hinted at starting his own political party, a month after he was expelled from the party for his “irresponsible behavior” and deviation from family values and public morality. At his first election rally since his expulsion, Pratap and his supporters were seen waving a green and white flag reading “Tej Pratap Yadav Team.”
At a rally in Mahua, his former constituency, he declared that he would be independent and follow the public’s wishes. He stated he would contest the election from any location the people choose, and the party affiliation would be decided later. Regarding the flag change, Pratap mentioned he was visiting the medical college in Mahua, which was built as part of a promise he made, and emphasized his commitment to fulfilling his promises.
Pratap was expelled from the party for six years after posting a photo with Anushka Yadav on social media and claiming they had been in a relationship for 12 years. He later deleted the post, alleging his Facebook account was hacked. Meanwhile, Lalu severed all family connections with his elder son, citing his “irresponsible behavior,” amid Pratap’s ongoing bitter divorce with his wife Aishwarya Roy.
Pratap married Aishwarya, the granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Prasad Rai, in 2018, but he filed for divorce after just five months. Following his expulsion from the RJD, he accused a conspiracy aimed at causing discord between him and his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav. Recently, Pratap acknowledged that he had uploaded a picture with Anushka and stated there was no issue with it.
