Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was one of 241 casualties in an Air India crash, where only one survived out of 242 on board. The tragic incident happened after takeoff from Ahmedabad to London. Adding to the tragedy, a report by TOI revealed that the number 1206, resembling the date of the crash on June 12, was his favorite.
The number “1206” held special significance for Rupani, serving as a lucky charm across various aspects of his life, such as on election forms, personal vehicles, and signatures. He often expressed admiration for this number, attributing his success to it. Supporters viewed it as a symbol of good fortune, guiding him towards a positive future.
Rupani, the former CM of Punjab and BJP leader, delayed his trip to London to meet his family from June 5 to 12 due to the Ludhiana West bypoll scheduled for June 19. Unfortunately, he never arrived at his destination, as Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar remarked on the twist of fate that led to his untimely event, stating, “This is very unfortunate how destiny played out for him.”
Gujarat BJP state president CR Patil lamented the “great loss” following Rupani’s death, with his nephew Mehul Rupani expressing profound grief. Rupani’s personal assistant Shailesh Mandaliya was shocked by the news after dropping him at the airport. Serving as Gujarat’s 16th CM from August 2016 to September 2021, Rupani guided the state during a crucial post-COVID-19 recovery phase with his renowned composure.
