TN governor stirs controversy with 'Jai Shri Ram' slogan.

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi faced backlash for asking students to chant “Jai Shri Ram,” leading to condemnation from government and academic bodies. The State Platform for Common School System-TN (SPCSS-TN) accused him of violating his oath and the Constitution, calling for his removal under Article 159.

Senior Congress leader Sasikanth Senthil criticized Governor Ravi’s actions, suggesting they stem from frustration. Senthil alleged the Governor is attempting to challenge the system following Supreme Court criticism and a State Government block. He warned of Ravi’s dangerous display of arrogance and defiance, undermining democratic and constitutional values.

The SC deemed Governor Ravi’s refusal of assent to 10 important bills “illegal” and “arbitrary,” stating he acted without “good faith.” In a significant ruling, the court overturned his decisions, classifying the bills as “deemed to be cleared” from the second date of presentation. This was after Ravi delayed approval for over three years.
