General Motors (GM) has recalled over 90,000 Cadillac and Chevrolet vehicles in the US due to transmission issues reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Affected models include the Cadillac CT4, CT5, CT6, and some Chevrolet Camaro units, where internal damage may cause unexpected front wheel lock-ups.
GM has identified a serious safety risk due to transmission damage. This issue could lead to front wheel lock-up, increasing the chance of a crash. GM is addressing the problem by providing free installation of monitoring software for the transmission control module at dealerships.
The recall encompasses numerous Cadillac and Chevrolet models from different years, including the 2020-2021 CT4 and CT5, as well as the 2019-2020 CT6. Certain Chevrolet Camaro models from 2020-2022 are also affected. Owners of these vehicles should anticipate further instructions from GM, expected to be sent out on April 21.
