KL Rahul, an Indian cricket stalwart, transitions to Delhi Capitals (DC) for ₹14 crore after departing Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) post-IPL 2024. In a ‘Superstars’ interview with JioHotstar, he shares the intense auction experience, describing it as nerve-wracking. Ready for the IPL season, Rahul reflects on the unpredictability of the auction process.

Describing auctions as a nerve-wracking experience, Rahul stressed the uncertainty players face in not knowing their future with a team. He highlighted the unpredictable nature of auctions, mentioning the lack of a fixed pattern in how things progress. As a captain for three seasons, the seasoned cricketer also acknowledged the pressure of team-building.

Rahul was eager to join Delhi Capitals despite challenges in the auction process. He felt it was the right move for his career, expressing happiness and excitement. His strong connection with owner Parth Jindal added to his enthusiasm for his new role in IPL 2025. Rahul mentioned that Parth, a close friend, has shared many non-cricket moments with him.

Rahul described the mental challenge of joining a new franchise, acknowledging the mix of excitement and nerves that come with it. Admitting that transitioning to a new team evokes both emotions is part of the process for him, especially as he anticipates being on his fourth or fifth IPL team.

Rahul praised Delhi Capitals for their balanced squad mixing experience and youth. He eagerly anticipates playing with talented youngsters and gaining insights from them. He highlighted key players like Mitchell Starc, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav, whom he has played with previously.

In 132 IPL matches, the wicketkeeper batter scored 4,683 runs at an average of 45.47 with a strike rate of 134.61, including four hundreds and 37 fifties, and a top score of 132*. In his last season with LSG in 2024, he scored 520 runs in 14 matches at an average of 37.14 and a strike rate of 136.13, also hitting four fifties.
