Australian legend Glenn McGrath backed Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback from a lower-back injury, expressing confidence in the fast bowler’s recovery. Bumrah, who missed the Champions Trophy, may also sit out the early stages of IPL 2025. McGrath, quoted by Times Of India, affirmed Bumrah’s ability to return from injury, citing his previous experience and understanding of recovery time.
McGrath pointed out the added strain Bumrah’s bowling action puts on his body compared to others. He emphasized that Bumrah must put in extra work off the field. McGrath likened fast bowling to driving a car, stressing the necessity of proper training and recovery to maintain stamina. He compared a fast bowler to a car, highlighting the importance of fueling up to avoid running out of energy.
McGrath applauded India’s Champions Trophy win, praising their adaptability. He lauded Kohli’s comeback and regretted Australia’s missed chances in the semifinals without key players. Dismissing speculations of India’s advantage in venue, he refuted claims of unfairness, stating, “I don’t believe they had an unfair edge.”
McGrath highlighted IPL’s role in India’s white-ball cricket domination, emphasizing its positive impact on one-day games. He praised India’s confidence and understanding of their game. Looking ahead, he advised India to strengthen their second-tier bowlers to provide crucial support for Bumrah in Test matches.
