The Uttar Pradesh Excise Department is currently conducting the initial phase of its e-lottery for retail liquor shops at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan (Jupiter Hall) from 10:00am to 4:45pm. This lottery aims to allocate licenses for 27,308 liquor shops throughout the state, with 414,679 applicants vying for the opportunity to win up to two shops each, evenly distributed across Uttar Pradesh.
The e-lottery has sparked intense competition in Gautam Budh Nagar, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, and Varanasi. There are 18,231 applications for 501 shops in Gautam Budh Nagar, 17,605 for 1,041 shops in Lucknow, 15,368 for 580 shops in Gorakhpur, and 13,062 and 12,416 applications in Prayagraj and Varanasi, respectively.
To join the e-lottery, applicants must bring their photo, e-lottery portal registration slip, and a valid ID like Aadhaar or PAN. Representatives must collect an entry card from the excise officer’s office in Lucknow. Allocation orders will be issued post the draw on the e-lottery platform. Successful applicants will receive an SMS notification, and they must pay the full license fee online within three working days.
