Lungi Ngidi achieves the feat for South Africa in ODIs.

Star pacer Lungi Ngidi reached 100 ODI wickets for South Africa during the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy match against England in Karachi, marking the milestone with his sole wicket in the game. Notably, he is now the Proteas’ second-fastest bowler to achieve this feat in terms of balls.

England, at 37/3 when batting first, followed by a collapse to 129/7 after Joe Root’s 37(44), managed to post a total of 179 in 38.2 overs. South Africa’s bowlers, especially Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder with three wickets each, disrupted England’s innings, with Ngidi dismissing skipper Jos Buttler.

According to Cricbuzz, Ngidi became the second-fastest Proteas bowler to reach 100 ODI wickets in terms of balls, achieving it in 3,048 balls after Morne Morkel (2,859). He surpassed Imran Tahir, who did it in 3,050 balls.

Ngidi is a key seamer in South Africa’s white-ball cricket, taking 100 wickets in 66 ODIs at an average of 29.46 with 4 four-wicket hauls and a fifer.
