Assam targets ₹1.5 lakh crore investments for infrastructure under Advantage Assam 2.0.

Assam aims to attract investments and infrastructure projects worth ₹1.5 lakh crore at the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expects over ₹1 lakh crore in investments and more than ₹50,000 crore in infrastructure projects, with significant support from the Centre during the February 25-26 event.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the summit would yield more than ₹1 lakh crore, with potential for additional growth. Anticipating infrastructure projects exceeding ₹50,000 crore, he highlighted that pending significant corporate declarations by industry leaders like Ambani and Jindal were not factored into the current estimates. Noting the prerogative of these leaders, he shared that the government had received 1,500 MoU requests covering areas such as sustainable aviation fuel, power projects, hospitals, universities, and medical colleges.

Sarma noted private investment proposals, particularly for road and bridge projects, will face rigorous scrutiny by the state cabinet. Emphasizing the importance of ensuring the legitimacy of investments, he explained that all proposals will be carefully assessed. Unlike traditional methods, Assam will prioritize cabinet review before signing any MoUs, aiming to facilitate genuine investments. The cabinet will thoroughly analyze proposals on February 23, with no MoUs signed without prior approval. Advantage Assam 2.0 is set to revolutionize the state’s industrial and infrastructural landscape with notable local and global interest.
