The IMAX format is gaining popularity in India, leading to more IMAX theaters nationwide. South Mumbai added an IMAX screen at Heritage Eros cinema last year. Borivali residents will soon have their own IMAX experience as a new theater is opening.
As per Bollywood Hungama, a new IMAX screen is located in Inox Sky City Mall, which is a part of Sky City Mall in Borivali East. The IMAX theater accommodates 228 seats, slightly larger than Cinepolis Nexus Seawoods’ 227-seater IMAX. This cinema complex with 10 screens, including Insignia and MX4D, offers a total of 1,372 seats. The theater is set to open before March 31, 2025, pending final approvals.
The Inox Sky City Mall, near Devipada Metro Station, provides easy access for commuters. Residents from different parts of Mumbai will benefit from this centralized location, addressing the area’s need for a large mall. It features a new IMAX screen, set to be a major highlight.
Mumbai’s new Inox Sky City Mall brings the city’s IMAX theater count to nine, surpassing Delhi-NCR. Other IMAX theaters in Mumbai are at Miraj Wadala, PVR Icon Lower Parel, Inox Maison BKC, Inox R City Ghatkopar, Eros Inox Churchgate, Inox Megaplex Malad, Cinepolis Nexus Seawoods, and Cinepolis Viviana Thane.
