In January, Aadhaar holders conducted 284 crore authentication transactions, marking a 32% increase from the previous year, as mentioned by the Ministry of Electronics and IT. The month also saw over 43 crore eKYC transactions, bringing the total e-KYC transactions to over 2,268 crore by the end of January. On average, more than nine crore authentications occur daily, showcasing the widespread use and importance of Aadhaar in people’s lives. The Aadhaar authentication service is utilized by around 550 entities, indicating its growing adoption in the digital economy.

The government announced that in January, Aadhaar holders conducted over 284 crore authentication transactions, underlining the growth of the digital economy. Face authentication transactions are also gaining momentum, with nearly 12 crore in January alone and a total of 102 crore since its launch in October 2021. About 78 crore of these transactions occurred in the past year. The UIDAI’s AI/ML-based face authentication solution is widely used in sectors like finance, insurance, health, and telecommunications. Various government departments at both central and state levels utilize this technology for efficient beneficiary service delivery.

The ministry highlighted the pivotal role of Aadhaar e-KYC in enhancing customer experience and facilitating business operations in banking and financial services. Recently, Aadhaar authentication was broadened to include both government and private organizations, aiming to drive innovation and improve public services. This change will enable individuals to easily access a wide range of services in sectors such as e-commerce, travel, tourism, hospitality, and healthcare through non-government entities.
