An FIR was lodged against ex-Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and unidentified AAP members in Shahabad for alleging Haryana’s contamination of Yamuna waters by court order under BNS. Filed at Shahabad Police Station, Kurukshetra, the complaint was lodged by Jagmohan Manchanda.
Kejriwal accused the Haryana BJP government of adding a harmful substance, likely ammonia, to the Yamuna last Monday, noting that Delhi receives its drinking water from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. He commended the vigilant efforts of Delhi Jal Board engineers for halting the poisoned water supply.
Following allegations, the Haryana government decided to file a legal case against Kejriwal for spreading false alarms about water poisoning. The FIR accused Kejriwal of causing panic in Yamuna. He must appear before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Sonipat on February 17; failure to do so will lead to legal action as per the court.
The AAP chief faces challenges ahead of the February 5 city polls as the BJP and Congress compete in the three-cornered contest. AAP aims for a hat-trick after victories in 2015 and 2020, while the BJP has been out of power in Delhi for 27 years and Congress led for three terms under Sheila Dikshit from 1998 to 2013.
