81 students were expelled from Bihar class 12 board exams on day one for cheating.

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) conducted Class 12 board exams across 1,677 centres in the state successfully with two shifts and strict security. Despite vigilance, 81 students were expelled for cheating. Most cases were in Sheikhpura (34), Madhepura (25), Gopalganj (8), Nawada (7), Saran (3), Vaishali (2), Patna (1), and Munger (1). To prevent malpractice, BSEB used frisking at two levels, three-tier magistrates, police presence, and CCTV. Students had to enter exam centres an hour early, and gates closed 30 minutes before the start.

The first shift had 50,657 Biology and Philosophy candidates from 09:30 AM – 12:45 PM. The second shift, for Economics, saw 75,281 candidates from 02:00 PM – 05:15 PM.

In Patna, 85 centres hosted 26,431 Biology & Philosophy students and 9,858 Economics students. Statewide, 152 model centres were set up with four exclusively for female candidates in each district.

All centres had female invigilators, police, and magistrates. They were decorated and equipped with special desks for female candidates.

BSEB Chairman Anand Kishore inspected various exam centers, including Government Girls’ High School, Shastrinagar, Government Boys’ High School, K.B. Sahay High School, Dayanand High School, and Dayanand Girls’ High School, Mithapur.

During his surprise visits, he checked exam procedures, talked to officials, and ensured adherence to board rules.

He also spoke with students in exam halls for feedback. The Intermediate Annual Examination 2025 will run until February 15, 2025.
