Handicraft Exhibition Showcasing Meghalaya’s Rich Craft Heritage Inaugurated in Tura

Tura, Meghalaya – January 22, 2025: Astha Handicrafts Producer Company Ltd., Tikrikilla, Meghalaya, in collaboration with the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), has inaugurated a grand 10-day Handicraft Exhibition at Police Parade Ground, Tura. The event, running from January 22 to January 31, 2025, aims to promote and celebrate the exquisite handicrafts of Meghalaya and the Northeast.

The exhibition features 20 stalls displaying a diverse range of handcrafted products, including handloom textiles (hand embroidery), jute crafts, cane and bamboo crafts, embroidery, and crochet work. 20 skilled artisans from Astha Handicrafts Producer Company Ltd. are actively participating, demonstrating their craftsmanship and offering unique handmade products to visitors.

The inauguration ceremony, held at 3:00 PM on January 22, 2025, was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Smt. Khusbu Rabha, HPO, HSC, Shillong, Meghalaya, and Smt. Dolly Rani Das, General Secretary of Kaziranga Multipurpose Women Society, Guwahati, Assam. Their presence and encouragement highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting traditional handicrafts while empowering local artisans.
