WhatsApp has released a new Android app update (v. 2.25.7.9) introducing a feature allowing users to link their social media profiles. This feature, currently in beta testing, was initially included in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.4.9 update. It aims to enhance user convenience by enabling direct sharing of social media profiles through WhatsApp.
When a social media username is added to a WhatsApp account, a direct link appears at the chat info page for easy access. This feature simplifies profile visits for contacts with a single tap. Currently, only Instagram links can be added, but future updates will include more social media platforms for users to share their online presence effectively.
WhatsApp is adding privacy settings for your social media links. Decide who can see them: everyone, only contacts, all contacts except some, or keep them private. This feature empowers you to control access to your social media profiles on WhatsApp, and you can change it anytime.
Adding a link to social media profiles is a new feature, but it doesn’t verify ownership. Manual entry of usernames allows anyone to add a link, which is not proof of authenticity. This optional feature can be skipped by users who prefer more privacy for their profiles.
