At Auto Expo 2025, VinFast debuted its global vehicle range for India, starting with the VF7 electric SUV. Following this flagship model, more affordable options are planned for next year, with successful premium models like the VF8 and VF9 available in other regions.
Despite recent floods, VinFast is on track to construct its manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. Initial capacity is planned at 50,000 units, with a vision to increase to 150,000 annually. VinFast intends to start with premium models and later introduce affordable EVs for the mass-market segment.
VinFast is collaborating with local suppliers to increase local content in its vehicles. The company seeks partners for cell and battery pack localization. Pham Sanh Chau, MD and CEO of Asia operations, stated that achieving local battery production in India could result in 30% to 40% localization, reducing car prices to compete with rivals such as Tata Motors and Mahindra.
