Guwahati, 21 February – The VAANI Deaf Children’s Foundation recently hosted a powerful conference in Guwahati, Assam, bringing together stakeholders to explore ways to empower deaf children and their families. The event, “Limitless Horizons: Holistic Pathways to Resilient Futures for Deaf Children and Their Families,” focused on building a more inclusive future.
The foundation’s work in early newborn screening, educational support, and vocational skill building is making a real difference in the lives of hearing-impaired youth across India. The conference highlighted the importance of integrated support systems, parent leadership, and deaf youth empowerment.
Key highlights included discussions on newborn hearing screening, parent networks, and pathways for deaf youth to pursue higher education and employment.
On the occasion, Executive Director Sumedha Vijaylaxmi Joglekar of VAANI Deaf Children’s Foundation said, “When deaf children have full access to language, education, and community, they don’t just succeed, they lead.”
“Our commitment to reduce social isolation and unemployment within the deaf community is inspiring, and this conference was a significant step forward, the event was a call to action for attendees to share knowledge and best practices, driving long-term change and working towards a shared vision of inclusion”, she added.
