Updates on Mohali's 'dog head' mystery.

A raid on a momo-making unit in Mataur, Mohali sparked national outrage over food safety and animal cruelty concerns. Initially mistaken for a dog’s head, the unhygienic kitchen discovery was later revealed to be goat meat by the district animal husbandry department. This shifted attention from animal cruelty accusations to food safety breaches at the facility.

The owners of the momo factory, Arzudeen and Joginderpal Singh, are still untraceable after being booked for spreading infection and adulteration following a complaint by a food safety officer two days post-raid. Animal cruelty charges are pending verification, but the findings from the animal husbandry department suggest the potential case has been resolved.

Mohali Deputy Commissioner confirmed the factory violated hygiene standards during the March 17 inspection. A piece of flesh, suspected to be goat meat, was found in the food samples and sent for examination by senior veterinary officers. The piece was about 10×6 inches, weighing half a kilogram.

The whistle-blower, Ravi Arora, raised doubts about the animal husbandry department’s findings when he revealed suspicions about the flesh found at the spot, which appeared to belong to a pug dog or a cat rather than a goat. This added a new dimension to the investigation into food safety violations at the momo factory in Mohali.
