Tata Motors is preparing to introduce the Avinya electric SUV in India, expected to cost around ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom) from Moneycontrol. The five-seater vehicle, created by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited (TPEML), is the initial model on Tata’s ‘Gen 3 architecture’, initially displayed in April 2022.
Tata Motors aims to position the Avinya as a competitor to Tesla’s Model 3 as Tesla prepares for its upcoming launch in the Indian market this year. The Model 3, priced at over ₹30 lakh in India, is anticipated to be Tesla’s most affordable vehicle in the country.
The Tata Avinya prioritizes safety, waterproofing, and dust protection, making it ideal for diverse terrains, especially in India. It boasts rapid charging, ensuring a minimum range of 500km in under 30 minutes. By utilizing advanced materials, electronics, and energy strategies, it maximizes efficiency in the premium EV category.
Tata Motors plans to merge its EV business with the PV division after separating its CV and PV businesses. Since 2021, Tata Motors’s CV, PV, EV, and JLR businesses have operated separately under their CEOs. The company aims to maximize synergies in petrol, diesel, and electric PVs, along with JLR in areas like autonomous vehicles and vehicle software.
