Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law, Robert Vadra, criticized the BJP after being summoned by the ED. Vadra claimed BJP would use dynastic politics or ED for political reasons if he joined politics. This began when he spoke out against minority atrocities online.
Vadra was interrogated by the ED under the PMLA regarding a 2008 Haryana land deal. He has been called several times, facing over 10 hours of questioning each session. The case revolves around a land purchase where his company acquired a plot in Shikohpur for ₹7.5 crore from Onkareshwar Properties, leading to allegations of irregularities.
Vadra denies any wrongdoing, is open to cooperating with the ED for a swift resolution. He dismisses the case as baseless, accusing the BJP of using it as a political vendetta. Vadra believes old issues are brought up when he considers entering politics, diverting attention from real concerns.
In November ’23, charges were filed against fugitive arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari and British national Sumit Chadha. The ED alleged that Vadra and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra purchased land in Haryana via a Delhi agent who also assisted in land transactions with NRI businessman CC Thampi.
