Porsche plans to launch the electric Cayenne SUV in late 2025, confirmed by CEO Oliver Blume. The fourth-generation model will be fully electric, while the current Cayenne will stick to combustion engines. Both versions will be made at Porsche’s Bratislava factory.
Porsche’s strategy has been clarified for the Cayenne and Macan EVs. The Cayenne with V8 engines will continue until the 2030s while the smaller Macan will be discontinued next year. Additionally, Porsche is considering a new petrol SUV as a replacement for the first-generation Macan.
Porsche initially planned to launch the electric Boxster/Cayman before the Cayenne EV, but the company has now prioritized the SUV, delaying the sports car duo. A company spokesperson stated that the all-electric sports cars in the 718 segment will follow the Cayenne EV. Despite the model order change, the release of the 718 EV remains on schedule for mid-decade without any delays.
Porsche plans to add a larger electric SUV to its future lineup, including a three-row flagship model produced in Leipzig. While electric power is expected, the possibility of hybrid or combustion engine versions for originally planned all-electric vehicles is being considered, according to CFO Lutz Meschke.
