OnePlus phones may swap alert slider for customizable action button.

OnePlus is considering removing its iconic alert slider, a feature present on its phones for years. The debut of the slider was a decade ago, marking its continuous presence. The news was shared by Digital Chat Station on Weibo.

The leaker suggests a change by OnePlus and OPPO, known as the Ouga Group, to swap the alert slider with a customizable button akin to Apple’s iPhone 15 and 16 series. This current slider allows users to switch their phone between ringing, silent, or vibrate modes.

The proposed action key can execute tasks like opening apps or activating the camera. It’s uncertain if OnePlus’s version will switch sound profiles. This design change signifies a significant user experience shift in future OnePlus smartphones.

OnePlus is reportedly developing a smaller variant of the OnePlus 13, called the OnePlus 13 Mini, which will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the same one found in the flagship model. This ensures top-notch performance despite the compact size.

The OnePlus 13 Mini will compete with compact premium phones like the Samsung Galaxy S25, featuring a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display at 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Its flat design with slim bezels creates an immersive experience, while the in-display fingerprint scanner enhances security.
