MI's Ryan Rickelton achieves his first IPL half-century in a noteworthy performance.

South African cricketer Ryan Rickelton impressed by scoring an unbeaten 62* in his first IPL fifty for Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders. His stellar performance in MI’s home game silenced critics as they comfortably chased down a 117-run target at Wankhede Stadium.

In pursuit of the modest total, MI began strongly, with Rohit Sharma (13) and Rickelton putting on 46 runs before Sharma was dismissed. Rickelton then scored a superb fifty, guiding MI (121/2) to victory in only 12.5 overs. He finished unbeaten on 62 off 41 deliveries, including four fours and five sixes.

The MI bowlers played a key role in defeating KKR by limiting them to just 116 runs. Debutant Ashwani Kumar’s superb performance, taking four wickets, secured MI’s initial points and victory in IPL 2025. This win was significant for MI, marking their first home game and success in the season.

Rickelton has scored 3,128 runs from 118 T20 games at an average of 30.07 with a strike rate of 141.34, including 21 fifties and one century. Among those runs, 263 were made in T20Is for South Africa at an average of 20.23.
