Kia Motors removes ad mocking 'crazy' Elon Musk after controversy.

Kia Motors removed an ad with an EV3 electric car from its Kia Norway social media. The ad sported a bumper sticker poking fun at Tesla owner Elon Musk, reading “I bought this after Elon went crazy.” The sticker was inspired by a trend among Tesla owners critiquing Musk’s politics with similar bumper stickers.

Kia Corporation issued a statement clarifying that the viral social media post from Kia Norway, now deleted, was an independent local initiative. It does not represent Kia Europe or Kia Corporation’s official stance. The post gained attention at the same time as the rising popularity of anti-Musk stickers among Tesla owners. These stickers reflect some owners’ opposition to Musk’s political beliefs and controversial business decisions. Sales of these stickers reportedly surged after entrepreneur Matthew Hiller, who made a Nazi-style salute in January, noticed a spike in demand.

Kia Norway’s post is strategically timed amidst the rapid expansion of its EV range, with the EV3 gearing up to challenge Tesla Model Y in the same market segment.
