IPL bowler Varun Chakravarthy takes two wickets in comeback game against RR.

In IPL 2025 Match 6, Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Varun Chakravarthy shined against Rajasthan Royals with figures of 2/17 in four overs at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. This strong comeback followed a tough season opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens on March 22.

Chakravarthy’s strategic use of the pitch in the RR match restrained their runs. By taking out Parag and Hasaranga early, he disrupted RR’s plan of setting a big target. RR’s decision to promote Hasaranga ahead of Hetmyer failed as his dismissal left them at 76/4.

In the IPL 2025 opener, Chakravarthy struggled with figures of 1/43 in four overs against the Royal Challengers, which was unexpected after his success as India’s surprise pick for the Champions Trophy in September 2024. However, his strong performance against RR reaffirmed his status as a top bowler in T20 cricket.

Chakravarthy, a prolific T20 spinner, has taken 86 wickets in 73 matches at an average of 23.97, making him one of the top three bowlers with over 80 wickets for KKR in the IPL.
