The Indian cricket team starts their England tour with a warm-up match against India A at Beckenham, a cricket ground managed by Kent County Cricket Club in London. The venue will prepare them for the upcoming five-Test series.
The intra-squad match between India and India A was planned to be televised but didn’t happen as the Indian team opted for a private game. This match is the only practice before the first Test in Leeds on June 20.
The India A team will tour England before the main squad, playing two four-day matches against the England Lions. The first game is at Canterbury from May 30 to June 2, followed by a match at Northamptonshire Cricket County Club (NCCC) ground from June 6-9.
The Indian team’s selection is expected in May, where Rohit Sharma’s captaincy hinges on his IPL performance. The first Test is set for June 20 at Headingley, with the second at Edgbaston from July 2-6.
