In a nail-biting IPL match, Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a thrilling 16-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at New Chandigarh. PBKS’s Marco Jansen shone bright, guiding the team to a famous win despite defending a challenging total of only 111 runs.
Jansen played a key role in PBKS’s victory by taking 3 wickets in 3.1 overs, conceding just 17 runs. He first dismissed Sunil Narine in KKR’s first over and then removed Harshit Rana, leaving KKR at 79/8. Later, he secured the wicket of Andre Russell as KKR fell short, scoring only 95 runs.
Jansen’s recent performance in the IPL has been his best yet, with 26 wickets in 27 matches at an average of 36. He impressively has 9 wickets in 7 matches against the Knight Riders at 21.22. In T20s, he has taken 118 wickets in 105 matches at an average of 26.65.
PBKS struggled with the bat, scoring just 111 runs in 15.3 overs, with Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya showing good form. Shashank Singh contributed with 18 runs. Varun Chakaravarthy and Narine stood out for KKR, with Harshit Rana taking three wickets. Despite the low total, PBKS successfully defended against KKR’s strong batting.
