The Bihar Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, expanded on Wednesday by adding seven new BJP ministers: Sanjay Saraogi, Sunil Kumar, Jibesh Mishra, Motilal Prasad, Raju Kumar Singh, Vijay Kumar Mandal, and Krishan Kumar Mantoo. This move followed BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal’s resignation due to the party’s “One Person One Post” rule.
The cabinet expansion, initially delayed by Kumar’s Pragati Yatra and the NDA Unity Show, is the second since March 2024 when 21 ministers were added before the Lok Sabha elections. The Cabinet now has 30 members, including BJP, Janata Dal (United), HAM, and an Independent. With six seats vacant, Wednesday’s induction increased the total strength to 37.
Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal noted that experienced ministers appointed will benefit the government and the public. Saraogi mentioned NDA’s goal is to secure over 225 seats to win the upcoming Bihar assembly election this year.
