New Delhi, October 19-20, 2024 : The Hapkido Federation of India (HFI) successfully hosted the 8th National Hapkido Championship at New Delhi from October 19-20, 2024. The prestigious event witnessed an overwhelming response with 550 participants from diverse parts of India.
Hapkido, a traditional Korean martial art, emphasizes harmony and balance. Developed in the 1940s and 1950s by Grandmaster Choi Yong-Sul, Hapkido combines striking, throwing, and submission techniques. This holistic art fosters physical, mental, and spiritual growth.
Under the visionary leadership of Premjit Sen, President, Hapkido Federation of India, Hapkido has been slowly but steadily spreading its roots across India. Sen’s tireless efforts, dedication, and passion for the sport have been instrumental in popularizing Hapkido nationwide.
“Premjit Sen’s day-and-night hard work has been the driving force behind Hapkido’s growth in India,” said a Rajnesh Choudhury General Secretary HFI official. “His immense contribution has paved the way for Hapkido enthusiasts to showcase their skills and unite under a common platform.”
The championship featured four main events:
1. Kyrogi (Sparring)
2. Hoshinsool (Self-Defense Techniques)
3. Kick Festival
4. Long/High Fall Events
These categories were further divided into age and weight categories to ensure fair competition.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries:

• Hanshi Bharat Sharma, President, Karate India Organisation
• Mr. Praveen Bhamare, All India Police Sports Officer
• Mr. S. Daljeet Singh Sarna, Chairman, Guru Hari Krishna Public School, Hari Nagar
• Mr. Ramandeep Singh Thapar, Chairman, Guru Hari Krishna Public School, Fateh Nagar
• Advocate Harshpriya Singh, Vice President, HFI
• Mr. Madan Kumar, President, Hapkido Delhi
Premjit Sen extended heartfelt gratitude to state delegates, participants, and Master Vinod Vats, General Secretary of Delhi Hapkido, for their tireless efforts.
The championship also marked the appointment of Master Rajnesh Choudhury as General Secretary of Hapkido Federation of India
