YouTube Music recently added several key features, such as double-tap liking on album art, consistent volume, Ask Music for iOS, and a Top Songs carousel. The double-tap feature allows users to like a song by tapping the album art, available in version 8.14.53A onwards. Note that tapping at the center likes the song, while tapping the sides skips it.

The new “Consistent volume” feature in YouTube Music version 8.15 aims to maintain uniform volume levels between tracks for a seamless user experience, especially beneficial when transitioning between varied music genres with different remastering. This feature, available on Android and iOS, may not be visible on all devices as it rolls out gradually. To access it, look in the Playback settings of your YouTube Music app.

YouTube Music has extended its AI ‘Ask Music’ radio generator to iPhone and iPad users, after launching on Android in September. Available on version 8.10+, it enables custom radio stations based on moods, activities, or prompts via text or voice. The feature suggests prompts on the Home tab and allows playlist saving. It’s accessible in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, for users with a YouTube Music or Premium subscription.

YouTube Music’s latest update features a “Top songs” carousel on artist pages for easier browsing. This carousel showcases four songs per page, totaling 20 tracks on five pages. Users can easily listen to all songs with the ‘Play All’ button and access the full tracklist. The purpose behind this addition is to improve user experience by simplifying song discovery.
