Drugs Awareness Generation Program Successfully Held at Majuli College

Majuli 24 September 2024: District Social Welfare Office, District Legal Service Authority, SP Office and NSS Unit Majuli College in a collective effort to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse among the students, a comprehensive Drugs Awareness Generation Program was organized today at Majuli College. The event was spearheaded by the District Social Welfare Officer, in collaboration with the Additional Superintendent of Police, District Legal Service Authority and Pratikshya , An NGO. The College Administration actively supported the initiative, with over 250 students attending the program.

The aim of the program was to educate students about the harmful effects of drug addiction, the legal consequences of drug-related offenses, and the support systems available to individuals battling substance abuse. The authorities stressed the importance of youth involvement in creating a drug-free society, as well as the need for early intervention and counseling for those at risk.

The District Social Welfare Officer Uttam Adhikari emphasized the role of community participation in tackling the growing menace of drug addiction and highlighted government initiatives aimed at rehabilitation and support.

Additional Superintendent of Police Bitul Chetia provided valuable insights into the law enforcement perspective, discussing the legal ramifications of drug abuse and the importance of maintaining a strict zero-tolerance policy in society.

A representative from the District Legal Service Authority informed the students about their legal rights and the protection mechanisms in place for those seeking help for drug-related issues.

Resource materials were distributed, and the students were encouraged to take an active role in preventing drug abuse through peer support and awareness campaigns.

The event concluded with a pledge by all attendees to spread the message of a drug-free lifestyle and to be vigilant against substance abuse in their communities. Majuli College Administration and Pratikshya NGO thanked the participants and vowed to continue supporting such initiatives that promote the health and well-being of students.
