The Delhi government’s new policy aims to reduce air pollution by banning fuel sales to vehicles over 15 years old starting April 1, announced by Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa after discussions on city pollution control.
A monitoring system will be set up at fuel stations to enforce the new policy. Gadgets will identify vehicles over 15 years old, denying them fuel, as Sirsa detailed. This action aligns with the government’s anti-pollution measures, shared with the Union Ministry of Petroleum.
The Delhi government will involve University of Delhi students in a tree plantation drive. It aims to supervise emissions from major polluting entities through specialized devices. High-rise structures, hotels, commercial buildings, and Delhi airport must utilize anti-smog guns in compliance with these initiatives.
The Delhi government aims to replace 90% of public CNG buses with electric ones by December 2025 in a green transport move. Approval is sought from the central government for cloud seeding to induce artificial rain during air pollution spikes.
