The Handicrafts Service Centre (HSC), O/o the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), New Delhi, organized a Craft Demonstration and Awareness Programme at Government Girls Senior Secondary School No. 2, Najafgarh, New Delhi, on 06/02/2026.
The students were trained by National Awardee Smt. Jyoshtna and Shri Narendar, State Awardee, who conducted live demonstrations of various crafts under the guidance of HSC, New Delhi. The students actively participated in the programme, showed keen interest, and developed sample products during the demonstrations.
The programme aimed to educate students about traditional crafts and arts, highlight their cultural significance, and create awareness about the potential of handicrafts as a sustainable livelihood and business opportunity in the future. The interaction also helped the students develop an emotional connection with India’s rich traditional and cultural heritage, which will be beneficial in the years ahead.
Around 100 girl students participated in the Craft Demonstration Programme. Shri Indar Kumar Meena, Assistant Director (Handicrafts), HSC, New Delhi, interacted with the students and explained various departmental schemes and their benefits. He further encouraged the students to remain focused on their academic pursuits, while simultaneously engaging in skill-based extracurricular activities, without hampering their studies.
