Amid escalating India-Turkey tensions over Ankara’s pro-Pakistan stance during ‘Operation Sindoor,’ Turkey provided Pakistan with drones and personnel during a recent conflict with India. This led to #BoycottTurkey trending in India, which had previously assisted Turkey after a 2023 earthquake. Indians canceled trips to Turkey and urged a boycott of Turkish goods.
Despite the backlash, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed unwavering support for Pakistan, emphasizing their enduring bond. Erdogan declared Turkey’s commitment to standing by Pakistan through thick and thin, highlighting the rare and valuable friendship between the two nations. Turkey values Pakistan’s peace and stability greatly.
Caught in controversy, Celebi denied any political affiliation and clarified that its investments in India were made in adherence to FDI norms, approved by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board. Tauseef Khan, the CEO of Celebi’s ground handling operations in India, also stated that none of the board directors are Turkish nationals, refuting the allegations.
