Cate Blanchett’s film ‘Black Bag’ will be available on JioHotstar starting July 28.

The espionage thriller Black Bag, featuring Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender, will debut on JioHotstar for digital streaming. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, it will be accessible from July 28, 2025. Since its theatrical release in March, the film has earned approximately $42.7 million globally at the box office.

The film’s story centers on a stolen code called Severus, which has the potential to cause nuclear reactor meltdowns. It also follows the investigation to find a mole inside the organization. Spy agent George (Fassbender) is tasked with uncovering the mole, with his wife (Blanchett) being the main suspect. The cast includes Rege-Jean Page, Marisa Abela, Naomie Harris, Tom Burke, and Pierce Brosnan.

In an interview with IndieWire, lead actor Fassbender commended the script of Black Bag, noting its distinctive characters and mentioning that films like this are rare nowadays. He also pointed out the challenges production companies encounter in financing movies within this budget range, as there are few films costing around $30 to $40 million. The film is written by David Koepp.
