India’s bullet train project is progressing, with the first run in Gujarat planned for 2028. A high-speed service will operate from Sabarmati to Vapi. The 508km route from Ahmedabad to Mumbai will be fully operational by 2030, as per documents obtained by CNN-News18.
The NHSRCL will conduct a ridership survey to determine fares and traffic projections for the bullet train. This is for the Sabarmati-Vapi section in Gujarat by 2028 and the base year for the entire Ahmedabad-Mumbai route by 2030, the first year of operation as stated in the News18-document.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail corridor spans Maharashtra & Gujarat, passing through key locations like Mumbai-BKC, Thane, Virar, Boisar in one state & covering a 348km route in Gujarat and a 156km one in Maharashtra. This project will elevate India into the elite club of nations with high-speed rail systems.
This week, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced completion of the 300km viaduct on Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail section. At Bandra Kurla Complex, the underground station for the Mumbai bullet train is 76% excavated.
