BJP will choose a new national president by mid-March.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced that the BJP will have a new national president by mid-March after state units conduct their elections. The process is ongoing, and a new president is expected to be elected based on publicly available information.

The national president’s election, initially set for January, got postponed due to the Delhi Assembly elections and pending state unit elections. To comply with the BJP’s constitution, at least 50% of state units must elect their presidents before the national president is chosen, promoting an expedited state-level election process.

Currently the national president of BJP, JP Nadda was appointed as acting national president on June 17, 2019. He formally assumed the role of the 11th National President on January 20, 2020. Under his leadership, BJP won in 16 out of 35 states in various elections. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party won again, securing a third successive term in power.
