German automaker Audi will debut its first car from the China-only AUDI sub-brand at Auto Shanghai 2025 on April 23, showcasing its commitment to adapting to evolving consumer preferences and fierce competition in China’s electric vehicle market.
The initial vehicle could be a production version of the AUDI E concept unveiled last year, featuring ‘AUDI’ lettering instead of the traditional logo. Developed jointly with Chinese partner SAIC, this model reflects a notable change in Audi’s China-exclusive sub-brand branding strategy.
The AUDI model, based on a jointly developed Advanced Digitized Platform with SAIC, reduces development time by 30%. It features a long wheelbase for a spacious cabin, maintaining external proportions similar to the A5 or A6 Avant.
The AUDI model features a 100kWh battery pack, a dual-motor AWD system, and offers a maximum range of 700km on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle. Its 800V setup enables a rapid 370km range gain in a mere 10-minute charge, showcasing Audi’s dedication to innovation in their new sub-brand.
