Apple is reportedly developing a real-time translation feature for AirPods, per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This feature should be included in iOS 19. However, Apple seems to be falling behind Google and Meta. Google’s Pixel Buds offered live translation in 2017, and Meta has tested similar features.
The new feature translates conversations between languages. For instance, if a conversation is in Spanish, AirPods will play the English translation for the user. When the English speaker responds, their iPhone will transmit a Spanish translation. This tech integration in Apple devices enhances user experience in diverse language scenarios.
Apple is delaying the launch of its AI-enhanced Siri assistant, stating that it will take longer to deliver the features. Additionally, Gurman reports a major redesign of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS planned for this year, signaling a significant change in Apple’s software development and user interaction strategy.
