Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement in the Rajya Sabha emphasized counter-terrorism efforts and Jammu and Kashmir’s developments, countering Rahul Gandhi’s comments from the 2023 “Bharat Jodo Yatra.” He reaffirmed the Modi government’s strong stance against terrorism and the significant decrease in terrorism-related fatalities during its tenure.
Shah ridiculed Gandhi’s Kashmir visit, questioning how he could showcase development to someone who sees through “kaala chashma.” Shah accused Gandhi of playing Holi with snow and seeing terrorists from a distance. He suggested that those with terrorist thoughts will see them not only in dreams but also in Kashmir.
Shah, in his address, emphasized Modi government’s firm stance against terrorism, stating, “We deal decisively with terrorists. Our zero-tolerance policy stands strong.” The Home Minister noted the decrease in terrorist-related deaths in Jammu and Kashmir under Modi’s leadership.
Shah criticized the previous government’s lenient stance on terrorism. He claimed terrorists entered Kashmir daily, causing bomb blasts during festivals. He accused the Centre of reluctance to act decisively due to the fear of losing votes and public disapproval.
During a Rajya Sabha debate, Shah discussed the government’s plans to address terrorism, drug abuse, and Northeastern issues. He expressed confidence that the BJP government would eliminate the “Naxal problem” in India by March 21, 2026.
Shah mentioned the reduced glorification of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir post Article 370’s abrogation. Previously, locals would venerate terrorists, but now, the association with them has diminished. Terrorists are now promptly buried rather than celebrated during funeral processions.
